The "Moving Forward" Situation
jdrew wrote:Dan is currently living off the ad revenue from BnS while also using it to pay for the site so I thought I would use my head and infer that we have a reserve in case something were to happen as well as excess(left over) revenue.I am not living off of the revenue from the ads, however there is a profit from operating the site for a year. We did a small experiment buying ads on reddit and 4chan and doing a mass email for the winter celebration. We also bought a handful games for a handful of players.
We plan to do more marketing expirements this year. The approach we took for the winter celebration probably wasnt the best, we should emphasis playing the game and try to target people looking for a long term investment into a community with a free game.

Anyway, the Auth API is currently being worked on and the master server support is simple enough, assuming we go with what is already planned.
if jagex would abandone the code, would mat be able to legally update the game?
(implying that aos survives this time period)

Lol at the idea of living off the ad revenue for this site.

OpenSpades servers should be separated from Voxlap servers on the serverlist, to help avoid confusion.Stack could you pls tell us how this is going ? This is 2 months old and we heard nothing about it since then. Unrealincident said that he would do this and already tried to but he needs help from you stack.
This is where the master server suggestion comes into play. It's something that has been discussed before and I have no objection to it. The master server is very flexible and I could easily add an extra flag check for OpenSpades servers. This way we could differentiate between the two flavors of servers and go from there.
If you dont intend to do this, could you pls tell us why not ?
When the time is right, we could ask the rockpapershotgun author who made the "Top ten reasons to play ace of spades" to do another article on us. Maybe when openspades is a standalone game? We do have an interesting story, which would make for a nice article. So it doesn't seem too unlikely.

Alright, I'm probably not accurate when it comes to definitions. But I'm talking more about when openspades can have its own special servers with features that are not available in .75/.76.
Multiplayer "standalone" without the possibility of servers. gg

Please tell me you are kidding. Unless this website makes 2k+ a month to keep up with human needs, I highly highly doubt it.
You reaally do need to think before you speak.
And OpenSpades is in a weird position when it comes to being standalone, as it relies greatly on beta AoS, but there is probably a server coming soon tbh.
