So I've finally decided to bring my map thread over from the old forums now that I no longer frequent that one.

Here is a list of my maps in alphabetical order, as well as a link to the appropriate post in this topic, which contains information about the map as well as images and downloads.

Specific game-modes the map is for are in bold. General notes are in italics.

Normandie

What is it?
Normandie is a map depicting a squad-sized engagement between the allies and the axis in the days after the famous D-Day Landings. A small town set on a crossroad is the focal point of the map, with cornrows and hedges providing flanking opportunities. A large, Norman church modelled loosely on the church at Ste.-Mère-Église provides a pivotal area for both teams to fight over.

Industry

What is it?

Industry depicts a terrorist take-over of a large industrial plant. The police & S.W.A.T have arrived on scene to eliminate the threat. There are large industrial buildings, carparks, tank farms, offices and depots to fight through, with many elevated positions to snipe from. You can climp upon rooftops, scaffolding, chimneys and access platforms, and take cover behind mobile cranes, forklifs and cabins.

Market Garden

What is it?
Market Garden is a representation of an assault on a fairly large Dutch town during the failed Operation. Don’t expect to see any Markets, though.

There are over 80 buildings, and each are fully interiored with furniture. There are drainage ditches aplenty on the left side spawn to crawl through stealthily, and a trench system in the right-side spawn. The church has a good line of sight in most directions.

The roads curve naturally, creating hiding opportunities behind every wall and hedge, which also follow the road in a natural manner, rather than pretty unrealistic grid layouts.

There is also a version that has been rotated 90 degrees, which makes the map play completely differently, with long streets to snipe down and trenches and fields to sneak through on the flanks. It's similar to how Normandie is.

So I decided to try my hand at a more arena-style map than a realism-based one like my others. A lot easier and quicker to do, but they're not really to my taste. But, I made one anyway.

So, I present "Honeycomb". It's, well... Let's just let the screenshots do the talking, eh?

Welcome to Oasis. Surprisingly not based off a famous band from Manchester, it features a small desert town, some fertile land with growing vegetation, desert wilderness and the titular oasis.

Welcome to the new and hopefully improved Chinatown, which now comes in Arena and TDM flavours.

The old Arena map has been shrunk to exclude the roads to concentrate the fighting, and access to the top floor of the temple has been removed to combat roof camping. The TDM map is what the old Arena map used to be.

This comes packaged with a custom script I (well, Dany0 improved it as well) cobbled together which removes the ability to build or destroy blocks in TDM mode, which is essential when you consider the layout of the map.

Take a look at the pictures to see what it's like.

Alpine

This map was made by me and Dany0, and in his leaving post when he left the Jagex forums, he said he'd post this map. However, I never saw him do that, so this is my own, slightly older copy. Dany did say he was going to add a few things to it, but I'm not sure if he ever got around to doing that.

DOWNLOAD: http://www.mediafire.com/?i55x3bbuub7ffum

What is it?

Alpine is set, surprise surprise, in the alpine region of Europe. There are tall, snowy mountains, winding roads, thick forest and a train tunnel. There are two default ways to get to the enemy's side; You can go up and over the mountain, or you can go through the mountain by using the tunnel. In the tunnel, you can find a walkway on either side, which leads to an avalance shelter.

Not only are your maps beautiful, they're fun to play too.

Normandie is a true classic. It has stood the test of time, it's fun to play/gameplay is balanced, and so many players are familiar with it. One of these days I'll have to get your autograph... Blue_Tongue

This is the first time I've seen Alpine. Very nice! I just added it to the rotations of aloha.pk's capture the flag and tug of war servers.

Why did you stop working on Last Stand?

Thanks, they're the two popular maps I've made. Market Garden is probably my personal favourite out of all my own maps.

Well, I find if you pay attention to the little things, the big things sort themselves out.

I was honestly surprised with the popularity of Normandie. I guess it just was the right kind of map for the right time, since there were no other maps (that I can recall seeing hosted, at least) set in an urban environment around when it was released. I may have made one classic, but you've made many more. I think it should be me who is after your autograph. Green_Wink1

Alpine is a beautiful map to look at, but never really had a game in it though. I'll keep an eye out for it being hosted so I can give it a try!

I stopped working on Last Stand for several reasons. I can no longer afford to host my own server, which was crucial for testing it before releasing. There was relatively little interest in the game mode (even with people such as Sponge hosting their own servers for it - a big thanks to those who did), people didn't understand how it worked, and there was a rather large bug which, no matter what I tried, I couldn't seem to get rid of.

Thanks! I agree that it is very nice aesthetically, but the main thing is that it plays well, which is something I've yet to really see.

How do you get your foliage flux? Particularly those hedges... Do you have slab6 sprites? Because I can't imagine another easy way of making those.

All foliage in all of my maps are done through Slab6 kvx models, except grass and wheat fields which are done straight in the heightmap.
