Mantle = PhysX = marketing, bc they are available only on fixed platforms.

VULCAN! That's the one I meant to say. What's wrong with it?

Vulkan was just released a few months ago, what did you smoke that made you think it would support old hardware?

He thought low level meant better. It's actually not.

^ What Longbyte said. I believed that in calling itself low-level, that meant there was a lower hardware requirement. I now understand that this is incorrect.

Anyone care to send the new ace-spades.com owners an offer to buy back the domain? Be warned many of them are dirty scalpers and probably will charge you like 2 grand for the domain.

We're working on AOF. Everything is fine although progress is a bit slow. It is certain that the gameplay will be radically different from AoS, and we will use a smaller scale for voxels in order to increase detail.

Sorry, that post about the domain is actually from May but I was testing the "bump topic" button which I had just found out about.

We don't "need" games, but we want to make a game (dubbed "AoS of the Future" since we're too busy to think of a good name) because we would like to take a different angle to the voxel genre.

EDIT: Oh, if you were talking about smaller scale, this is simple to explain. Suppose you were driving a tank and it fired at a brick wall. There has to be a way to show that the brick wall got a "dent" instead of part of it just magically disappearing. The solution is to simply allow a map to have more detail. If octrees are used correctly, then this will use just as much space as a map with the traditional scale.

lies. LIES. SO MANY LIES

I already said that mine is "Disposable Heores" :D (remember that every server can be a different game, we are just working on the default package and engine/renderer)

We are not sure about making blocks smaller, because if renderer is not fast enough, then we will have to sacrifice apparent fog distance (if fog is 128 blocks, if you make blocks smaller, fog gets closer). And sacrificing any fog distance is very bad idea.

No blocks will ever magically disappear again. One won't be able to dig any more blocks if his inventory is full (no, you won't get a nice inventory GUI like in Meincraft, it will be very simple). Blocks will get thrown away by explosions. Blocks will fall downwards when spammed with enough bullets. Falling structures will leave either a pile of blocks or something resembling past structure.

And we don't care so much about map size because memory is rarely a problem. Sure, if maps get too big we won't be able to load them into RAM in one piece, but HD space is no problem.

And back to OP topic: we need sfx guy because periodfox died in the making

Do you have any results ? like something to show people around , or you started nothing yet ?

And alright but i meant why needing the domain name ace spades if it's a different (even based) game or at least a different game ^^ (but ok if it was just a bump post nevermind)

Disposable heroes seems good !

Game engine is pretty much done; animation engine is WIP; models are WIP; sounds are non-existant (I might be wrong); proper gameplay scripts (like drunk cam, proper damage model, weapon stuff) are placeholders and are not worked on rn.

ace-spades is doubtful domain name... I would go for VXW or AOF (Aos Of the Future)

I would like to point out from the very beginning that Disposable Heroes is self-contradiction and that is exactly why it's good for me. also Metallica 4life.

Thank you for so much kindness, but I looked around "at least a bit" don't worry. I asked him because I was confused about what it was : it seemed new, he asked about ace-spades domain name + it didn't seemed related to voxelwar and vice versa on the other topic
But yeah i guess, everyone should know about it and blame people to not look around and not know ;D
(With the amount of shitty/stupid/negative post you and some others are posting in those forums i'd say it's pretty normal to not read and avoid a lot of topics)

Thanks Chameleon for your answer it's clear as spring water now Blue_Happy1

The ace-spades.com domain question is old and entirely unrelated to AOF (it was when the ace-spades.com was up for grabs and there was a big public auction for it). Again, I was just testing the bump button which is why it looks recent.
