Are you all serious with this BS? This game, in both AoS and OS forms, are dying! I remember playing in 2012 when we had over 1000 players in non peaks times. I remember when the people here would answer a question even if it had been answered a million times before (or at least just give a link to the answer instead of being an asshole). Now we often, even in peak times, have 400 players.

Why can't SOME of you get your heads out of your asses and see that being a dick to people who are new is no way to keep this game alive? I have spent the last year e-mailing youtubers and "popular" internet sites to talk about and share our game. And the second we get a new player, half of you start being instant assholes to those people.

If you want this game to live, how about you just try being helpful to new people, no matter how stupid they may be, instead of being a total arrogant prick? OH, you know everything about AoS, OS, scripting and the internet? Good for you. How about you try to remember that AoS was once SPECIFICALLY designed for those who had poor PCs or didn't know shit about computer gaming. When we started out, this community was full of 11-14 year olds, but it grew (I am 27 now).

So how about the next time someone new asks a question in the forum, you just answer the damn question instead of making them feel like shit, which forces them to leave the community forever. I want this game to live just as much, if not more than, anyone else. So lets be accepting of new people. Lets be helpful. Lets be nice. And stop being total fucking pricks!

EDIT- This is a new account because I wanted a new name and to be far from my prior clan, my number of posts or my join date mean nothing. I have been here nearly as long as anyone who is still here from the beginning.

I understand that. But if this game is going to die in a matter of months (because it has lost about 20 players per month on average) why do we need that? Why not just accept anyone who wants to play the game? I play plenty of "new" games, but I love AoS/OS. And I always feel like I am the only person who is actually trying to keep the game alive! (besides the people who are running buildandshoot)

Honestly I agree with you. I try to save my hostility for people with dumbass opinions rather than just new people. A lot of people who have been around for a few months or so like to consider themselves the "old guard" and turn their noses up at newer people.

EXACTLY! I wish to believe (whether true or not) that those of us who started playing AoS years ago because it was the only game available to us are much kinder and understanding of those who are new and don't know shit. I didn't know shit about modding AoS when I started, but someone helped me instead of being an ass to me. I just don't get why people can't help others.

There is a difference between a newcomer who is a total retard and oblivious to any advice to a newcomer who is willing to learn and co-operate.

There's also a difference between giving constructive criticism and putting someone down to make yourself seem superior.

I think the entire history of AoS is filled with kids trying to be cute with the examples you provided but the more mature users would chime in and help. I think the helpfulness still happens to some extend outside if the weekly topic of "Oh my god people are playing maps, gamemodes, and versions I don't like". It is mix of those trying to be cute, like 1Shot1Kill's post, and those trying to provide assistance. The kids trying to be cute at times do outweigh the people trying to be helpful.

I understand this 1Shot, but those are not the people I am talking about. There are CERTAIN members of our community who instantly turn their nose up and pretend they are gods because someone asked (like me) how to make the rifle mod fit normally in OS 0.0.11. I am not talking about YOU and I certainly have seen in my time that there are people who post over and over again because they are too dumb to just follow directions. I BLAME NO ONE FOR THIS BUT THE IDIOT POSTER! My issue is with people who are being assholes for no reason at all when a new player asks a simple question! You and I agree, you just think we don't. If someone has been told plainly even twice how to do something and they still ask, they are dumb.

BUT, if someone makes a post like (real recent post) CHECK OUT THIS SCORE, just because they are proud of their new high score, and every single comment is saying "who gives a fuck" or "go die" (second being a comment that was deleted), then how are we ever supposed to hold our community together? All I am asking is that people try to be nice. NOT to continually cater to people who wont follow directions.

Like I said earlier, most of these people who criticize do it so they can give helpful feedback so that whoever they were talking to will not make the same mistake in the future. Of course there will be those people who do it to make themselves appear superior, but let me assure you I am the former.

Now you are just over-exaggerating. On the thread you are talking about, nobody said about "who gives a fuck", people just simply stated that they did not care about the score (without the swearing), and could you give me some proof that the second comment was posted? Some of those people who you think are "assholes" are really just people who try to help, maybe in a slightly aggressive manner though.

Those posts were to get OP to have the impression that useless threads like that shouldn't be made, and OP has most likely noticed his mistake. All of those posts were helpful (except that death threat, which might not have even been posted). You need to understand that not all criticism is designed to mock and bring down the target, but rather that the criticism is supposed to be helpful, which is the concept that you do not seem to grasp. Do I have to make myself any clearer? I will stop arguing once you acknowledge this simple fact.

You're taking that too literally. Maybe nobody said the exact words "who gives a fuck" but it's the same sentiment and his point is still valid.

Was constructive? All I am saying to THAT specific post is that it could have been simple, "please do not post scores here". BUT, people felt the need to put down the OP. You refuse to think in someone elses shoes. To me, if I posted that score I would understand the above comments. BUT, to an 11 year old who just started playing, maybe those comments are not helpful. I am only saying this because I have seen in my time, honestly, over 100 people leave this game forever because of comments like these. YOU are not wrong! YOU were not even wrong to repost the comment above. I am only stating that I wish our community as a whole could deal with these people (and posts) appropriately to make these new players see that they made a mistake instead of making them feel like they are not wanted. Everyone has felt like they are not wanted, so if you cannot read these posts in an objective way and see that they may NOT have helped anything, then you are the problem, not the solution. And like I said, comments are made, and comments can be deleted. By anyone who feels that they were unnecessary. AND, again, my profile may say I've only had a few posts and only been here a while, but my account is new to change things up. I have been around since before you and many other people who wish to believe they are "old timers"! I have been here since Reuben started in the forums with that super sweet picture, and I will be here long after you have moved on to something new!
