my opinon is that they are not paranoid since it has happened before twice (fairly recently)
in the Balkan wars 1992-1995 Civilians were forced to live life like they were in fallout
and in 2001 during the economic collapse in Argentina
if people see that there is a (slim) possibility of something really bad happening and prepare for it what is so bad about that?
that being said the show doomsday preppers is a terrible way of representing preppers

Ozone, I agree that it is indeed good to prepare yourself in case stuff gets bad, but I think some people take it way too far, spending on something that COULD, POSSIBLY, MAYBE, SOMEWHAT PROBABLY happen in some years, and sacrificing life quality because of that fear. There is nothing wrong with keeping a stash and training yourself in basic survival skills and stuff, but holy shit, don't exaggerate it.

they make it seem like 100% of the preppers fit into the sterotype
the truth of the matter is, only a few prepers are like that.
