The dates passed now and obviously nothing happened, but hey I'll still throw my two cents in.

There will be no real threat on that date or any other significant date to do with something like 9/11, it's pretty obvious why, because we are expecting it, and I guarantee you whether publicly announced or not, plenty of guys with firearms and big black vests would have been on high alert.

Sun Tzu had something to say that bears some relevance:

"If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant. If he is taking his ease, give him no rest. If his forces are united, separate them. If sovereign and subject are in accord, put division between them. Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected"

You should never attack an enemy when they are expecting it, unless you should happen to hold overwhelming advantage in numbers, firepower and tactics, it's fair to say that is beyond the reach of most terrorist organisations. If you ask me you should be more worried about IS, extremist forces that are able and willing to take the field in large numbers, appear to have consistent supply lines of weaponry and munitions and an organised logistical and tactical structure.

But heck, in order to win they don't need to take the field like that, just to keep on doing what they are right now, hit and run, hit and run. A poll by the Wall Street Journal in June this year showed 65% felt the war in Afghanistan was not worth it, with most polls placing agreement and disagreement of the war very close together, as the US administration continues to make the same stupid mistake over and over (A trend I expect to continue for some time) public opinion will grow steadily worse.

Furthermore it is my opinion that no amount of propaganda can at this stage change negative public opinion about how the administration deals with matters of warfare in the middle east. So in a sense they have already won, they just need to continue existing and for the US administration to continue to be as zealous and short sighted as they always have been.

To conclude, in my honest opinion the die is already cast, and now it is simply a matter of will on the extremists behalf, something they seem to have in great abundance.

TBH
ISIS and afgan are two different stories
and despite what vice news is making the PKK look like (big dam heroes) you also need to realize their goal is to create a communist state in Kurdistan (didn't get this from propaganda they stated this is their intent. also im not saying this makes them "bad guys") which is pretty much where ISIS is right now.
I think its only a matter of time (Half a year to a full year) before ISIS attacks a western country, that being said, I dont think we should just charge in there turning them to maggot food.

Well, ISIS plans to make a Islam 'heaven' of their own, obviously with brute force and high ruthlessness, the old Sharia laws and things. I don't see why are they a threat to America. Obviously to local peace and perhaps the whole Middle East in general, not America. The two beheaded reporters just 'happen' to be Americans, they were asked to be exchanged for ransom, well the White House didn't, so they executed them. Seems fairly simple to me, no ransom equals no hostage.

ISIS keeps on bragging on on how they will make just about every capitalist country in Europe and America fall to their knees (don't see that happening) and I'm pretty sure they killed the journalists to show that mean business.
the hostage equation is a bit more complicated than that
no ransom+hostage= dead hostage
dead hostage= authorities will take us more seriously

ISIS is neither the first, nor will be the last organized terrorist group. The difference is their timing, numbers, and effect on weak-minded westerners who believe everything they are spoon fed.

And the list of socialist countries on the other page is not only hopelessly biased and incomplete, but fails to mention the (larger) number of socialist countries doing rather well. Take a look at any Scandinavian sovereign country.

Please do not quote communist failures with socialist attempts; for North Korea to have been included on that list is like uploading a video of your drunken self doing something stupid on YouTube: you can be proud of it, but your intelligence will be questioned.
Spoiler:
Before I am called gay, socialist, communist, fascist, tyrannical etc., I would like to make it clear that I am politically neutral

The US has a strict no-ransom policy for hostages. Their theory is that if they never pay ransom people won't try to get ransom, since they won't get the money anyways. This system doesn't really work though, so if you become a hostage for the American government just expect to die and hope it's quick.

And the fact they seem to have a very large financial power backing them.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did attacks on our soil later, but I think their main focus is to take over the immediate area. Unlike past terrorist groups who just hated the US with passion this group hates everyone equally from what I see lol. So they are just starting at their homeland and probably expanding from there.

I don't think America is having any trouble. The whole world is.
Except for the socialist countries.
Cuba> not well off
India= the preamble of their constitution reads "We, the people of India, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a one Sovereign Socialist Secular Democratic Republic and to secure to all its citizens" > debatable
North Korea> not well off
Sri lanka has gotten out of a state of civil war on may 18 of 2009, and since you can't kill an ideology the LTTE still lives on
Not one of those countries are socialist. India is a democracy. Cuba and N. Korea are communist.

From what i've heard, Al Qaeda thinks that ISIS is too extremist.
