This is a list of very good games that will run on probably every computer.
Every game was played on my 2003 pc and worked perfectly!

Recommended for old toasters:

-Arx Fatalis (may lag because of the AI, even on modern pc's, lol). -RPG

-System Shock. -RPG/FPS

-Freelancer and Starlancer. -Space Simulator

-Thief The Dark Project and The Metal Age (great if you like stealth games) and Thief: Deadly Shadows (if you have a 2004+ pc, it'll run fine). -RPG/Stealth

-The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind (and Oblivion if you have a better pc). -RPG

-King Arthur's Gold. -2D sandbox multiplayer game

-World of Goo and Little Inferno. -2D

-Half Life 1 and 2.

-Unreal 1 and 2, Unreal Tournament.

-Halo: Combat Evolved (may lag in some scenes because of awesome light effects and bump mapping).

-Star Wars: Jedi Academy and Jedi Outcast.

-Rune (game from 1999 I think, works on every 125 MB RAM toaster found in dusty basements).

-Some old Ms Dos games emulated on DosBox, like Ultima Underworld.

Games that require some better hardware (unfortunately I can't play them):

-Thief 4 (not released yet).

-X3: The Threat (space and stuff).

-Dishonored (MUST PLAY!).

-Chivalry (medieval warfare simulation).

-0x10c.

-Lost Planet games.

Have fun!

Cave Story, Soldat, Spelunky, also get an SNES and NES emulator and play some cool games on those. some that I recommend are: River City Ransom(NES), Demon's Crest(SNES), Megaman X1-X3(SNES), and there are a lot of other good games.

Dagger Fall is awesome, but completely unplayable because of the controls. After two minutes of playing it, I raged and uninstalled it.

Assault Cube and Red Eclipse should work. Red Eclipse is iffy though.

Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord, Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin, Combat Mission: Afrika Korps, Homeworld 1, Call of Duty 1 & United Offensive, Battlefield 1942 and Homeworld.

Classics you'll have to play at some point in your internet life.

Terraria requires advanced shaders, for example my 2003 pc can't run it.

If the criterium is a PC that can't run AoS 1.0: Arma II Blue_Tongue
[deleted very long list of old games that are good]

I've played EUO. It's an indie free to play on-line RPG with very crappy graphics. An Ultima clone.

If your PC is not a crappy rig from dem 90s, the PSXe Emulator should work too.
It emulates PSone games very well, and you can download plugins (well you need to download plugins)for the controls, graphics etc.
You also need to get the Bios from the original PSX.
Well, i musn't give you a link, because downloading the Bios from the interwebs is illegal in most countries.
But Google is your friend Blue_Wink1
I recommend the games Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Final Fantasy 7-9.
It can acctually run the games from original CD-roms you've bought in the media-store in the 90s^^
You just need to install the plugin for CD-roms. Works fine for me and now can finaly play my old favourites again, since my PSone crashed 3 years ago. Blue_Crying
I recommend using a controller, and well, it just feels like playing the good old PSone.

You can change the quality, so like lighting turns into colors, etc.

My PC is pretty modern, but before I had this one Fallout ( 1-2, tactics ) was pretty great.
I recommend those games to anyone, regardless of your computer.
