Introducing BetterSpades, an all-new OpenGL Ace of Spades client by ByteBit. Targeted at low end systems, it can run on your grandmother’s rig!
BetterSpades offers many improvements over the original client, while still keeping the familiar UI that we all know and love.
- New rendering method identical to the one used in mat^2’s OpenGL client
- Improved, unlimited framerate; no more 57fps cap!
- Works on any resolution
- Built-in server list
- New modding features
- Mods *finally* look like they do in kv6 editors
- Server listing UI elements
- In-game chat font
- Background
- Fonts
- Icons
- Able to be extended for future game updates (!!)
The client will likely be available for download on the official Build and Shoot download page very soon, but for now you can download the latest version from the releases page on GitHub: https://github.com/xtreme8000/BetterSpades/releases
There is also an official Discord server for BetterSpades, in which you can report bugs, request features, post screenshots and participate in developer chats. You can join it here:

The piqueserver team released a new version of piqueserver over the holidays! Some of the major changes are listed below:
- Full Python 3 support, opening the door to many modern, useful features
- Windows support [in theory]!
- Gamemodes have their own folder, making file management much easier
- SSH access has been FINALLY fixed from PySnip
- New clean-looking status server page powered by Bootstrap
There are too many new features for me to list here, so I recommend that you check out the full changes (and download the server!) on the releases page on GitHub:
https://github.com/piqueserver/piqueserver/releases
Wanna chat with the team? They have many ways to get in contact with them listed in their README, and their Discord server is linked below:

New year, new OpenSpades version! Developer yvt released a new version which has lots of bug fixes and new features.
- Occasional “Invalid Player ID” error during map change has finally been fixed
- Fixed Windows CTRL+V paste crash
- You can now copy text from chat log
- First person spectator mode now properly immerses you as the target player
Once again, there are too many bug fixes and features to go over in the newsletter. I encourage you to check out the GitHub releases page for the full changelog, as well as the download link:

Community member 10se1ucgo has been working on making his own Ace of Spades client and server closely related to mat^2’s 2012 Ace of Spades OpenGL project.
Here is a recent video of what the client can do!

Craving an old-school, 2011-esque Ace of Spades experience? The folks on 4chan’s /v/ board have come together and created an Ace of Spades Discord server, and have 0.54 servers up and running! I promise you that it’s a TON of fun when the server is poppin’ and encourage everyone to join them! Their Discord server invite is below:

ByteBit recently developed a live Ace of Spades player count graph, which is viewable at his website: http://aos.party/trends/

Build and Shoot League #7 Playoffs are ON! Make sure to cheer for the team you want to win!
