Hello, I've been playing AoS since update 0.47. I love the game, but I miss the old days (rifle only, black ironsights, no autoclimb, etc.). I still have the original .47 install program, but I want to make a server. Every time I try this, the game tells me that it is having trouble retrieving the ip address. I've already port forwarded. Any ideas?

This post might be of interest: http://buildandshoot.com/viewtopic.php?p=21985#p21985
Also, get objconv.exe from here, and disassemble the server.exe: http://www.agner.org/optimize/
Make sure you have a good text editor with a search function. vim is excellent, but you're probably not used to that.

If it refuses to work properly, try running a UDP tunnel into your server with this (they will appear as localhost players): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32094129/tunsv.zip

By the way, remember to back up your server.exe. There's a fair chance you'll cock it up.

Have fun!

I think I've figured it out. I got on the archived version of the old forums and found a discussion on this very topic. It turns out that the game used to use a certain website to find the player's external ip. That website is no longer functioning, so version .47 is pretty much useless.

I patched up the .47 server executable for you to work with our master server as well as fix the IP getter,

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/793 ... atched.exe

Just throw it in your .47 directory and run it like normally.
