Capt_Geek3 wrote:This is impossible, as you would have to change the registry every time you stick in the USB. If a computer prohibits installation of content, even if you managed to make a script or application autoexecute, it is guaranteed to not be able to change the registry. That means no cutom URI registration, and the in-browser server list becomes useless. You would have to make your own server list, accesible through an application.learn_more wrote:its not an actual portable anything, because it still reads from appdata...I know, i'm working around it.
It's a Christmas miracle!
It sounds good on paper, but damn near impossible to execute.

Well, all you need to do is:
client.exe aos://(server ip)
as far as I'm concerned. You do that in the cmd, of course.

I am going to try this on my old laptop with a live system. It looks and smells like a good idea.
Spoiler:
Spoiler:
Vista+ virtualizes the registry when direct access is not allowed. It stores it to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\yerSoftware.
Also portablizing the launcher is a bit silly because the whole point of the launcher is to track AoS installs. You're better off just using the barebones client with the client.ini.
