Download and Screenshots: http://aos.minit.nu/maps/Makewar/ As some of you may remember, the Makewar server was one of the first servers back in the day. Unfortunately, their custom maps that they hosted were never released. I managed to save one of their maps when the Makewar server came online for...

All of the buildings are accessible, including the magnificent cathedral located in the center of the map and the windmill at the south of the isla...

I have been told that there is a bug in the silver spaceship code. Use it at your own risk. If you're going to be working with a program that reads/writes .vxl, you should really write your own code; vxl is a pretty simple file format. Yourself, Thanks for the heads up, it was rewritten, as there i...

Fix for those of you with Nvidia Optimus graphics cards and Intel CPUs: Go into the Nvidia control panel prior to starting Ace of Spades and change the Preferred graphics processor to Integrated Graphics. Your computer will then use the built in GPU in the Intel chip. I'm not entirely certain why th...

Also note that there is a size limit to the models poly2vox can export. I believe Dany0 compiled a modified version of poly2vox which can handle large data. It was posted under the name "poly2vox unlimited". I don't know where the download link is anymore.

This is a really nice tutorial buffet, thanks for taking the time! I knew the basics of this, but I still learned a couple of new things. A question though, is it possible to convert a .vxl map into a bitmap? I know things like buildings and tunnels won't come with it, but I'm just looking for the ...

I just tried out Dxtory and it is better than Microsoft Expressions, assuming that the program you want to record uses the graphics card. Microsoft Expressions will also work for non-graphics card programs; it is a general screen recorder.

The best screen recorder that I have found is, surprisingly, Microsoft's Expression Encoder. You can download it here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=27870 The frame rate impact is much less than any other recording program I've tried. I honestly have no idea why it isn't me...

Thanks everyone for your comments. @Yourself The algorithm used is directly the one used by Minecraft. There is no ray casting or anything, it is only a cheap method to propagate light (maximum at 15 blocks). That's why caves entrances are lighten just a little and the end of the caves are pitch bl...

Very nice! Are you only using ambient occlusion for shading? It looks to me like there are no other sources of light or any sort of shadows. Are you using screen space ambient occlusion? I started a thread on CPU based AO here: http://www.volumesoffun.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=481 The idea is ...
